the bone man

I was born and raised in Kerrville, and I have always enjoyed it here. I don't ever plan on leaving, not out of complacency, but because I love this town, the area and most importantly the people. Radio has been the best thing for me in being able to meet many people and have great insight into the community.

Wine of the Month

Wine of the Month

My Wine of the month is a real easy one. You can find it in most stores and it isn’t very expensive. This months wine is Smoking Loon Pinot Noir. Now if you’re a wine drinking friend of mine you’ll know that I’m not a big fan of Pinot Noir, but this one is pretty good. It’s easy to drink and a little fruit forward but it isn’t wimpy like many Pinots I’ve tasted. Honestly this wine is versatile enough to be paired with nearly anything or simply drank on its own, but when I drink it I just crave smoked things (maybe it’s the name). I would suggest some grilled burgers topped with some smoked Gouda cheese. That little meal would also go good with this month’s beer. As the Texas weather heats up and becomes increasingly crazier with storms it’s always good to have a versatile bottle of vino just in case.

Bottom of the Bottle:

Great anytime wine.

Price: $

My Price System: (These are retail prices, or what you could expect from the grocery store)

  • 0-12 = $
  • 13-24 = $$
  • 25-36= $$$
  • 37-48 = $$$$
  • 49-60 = $$$$$

Beer of the Month

Beer of the Month

Sorry it’s late but here is the beer of the month. Since I just got back from a trip to New Orleans I decided to go with a beer I thoroughly enjoyed while I was there. The beer is from Abita Brewing and its called Andy Gator. If you are a beer drinker in Texas then you’ve probably had an Abita beer before. But you probably haven’t had Andy Gator. This beer is big and strong with just a little bit of a sweet side. Andy Gator weighs in at 8%, but it isn’t all that heavy. It went great with all the great Cajun cuisine I was sampling, so I would pair it with anything spicy. To over simplify it just imagine a fireman’s #4 on steroids. Good stuff none the less. I’m not sure if you can get it in Texas but if you can find it, it is worth a try.

The Beer Breakdown:

Strong and powerful brew that isn’t terribly heavy

Price: I was paying about $4.00 to $4.50 a pint in New Orleans. Not sure what it would be anywhere else.
