I became interested in country music as a roadie for Slim Whitman. At the time I was flipping burgers at the old Zephyr Grill in downtown Bumpus, Texas. Old Slim pulled up in a Flexible bus as red as a fire truck with little blue lassoes all over it, swaggered in and ordered a double meat cheeseburger, medium rare, with shallots and avocado and sugar sprinkles. He was so impressed with the grease bomb he asked me to join his traveling band. We toured the South, the North, the East and the West; along the way I listened to a lot of good music...
